Many of Brooklyn's walk-ups and mixed-use buildings still depend on century-old fire escapes. Water collects at bracket connections, rust jacks the masonry, and drop ladders seize. Left alone, that becomes an unsafe condition — and a violation.
We replace corroded brackets and anchors, rebuild landings and stair stringers, free or replace drop ladders and counterweights, and finish with proper surface prep and paint. We work alongside the engineer or architect who files your facade inspection and repair work.

Fire Escape Repair & Replacement FAQ
Do fire escapes need to be inspected in NYC?
Yes. Fire escapes on buildings over six stories are examined as part of the Facade Inspection & Safety Program (FISP, formerly Local Law 11), and NYC law also requires owners to keep fire escapes in good repair and periodically test them. Your engineer or architect will specify what's required for your building.
Can you repair a fire escape without replacing it?
Usually. Most fire escapes can be saved by replacing corroded brackets, slats and connections and repainting. Full replacement is only needed when the structure is widely compromised.
Do tenants have to leave during the work?
No. We work from the exterior and coordinate access to windows only where needed.
Do you offer free estimates?
Send us photos and rough measurements by text or email and we'll usually give you a price range quickly. For custom work we'll visit to measure.
What areas do you serve?
All of Brooklyn, plus Staten Island, Queens and Manhattan. South Brooklyn neighborhoods are closest to our shop.
